Make-A-Wish Trip Hawaii

November 28 - December 4, 2012
Drew's Make-A-Wish Trip to Hawaii

Bright & early 6:30am Limo pick up

Brooke keeping Drew entertained at the airport.

Here we go!

Kids did great on the flight!

Counting down 9 hours on a flight was nothing after having just been through over a year of counting down up to 72 hours of chemo at a time!

A special visit to the cockpit!

We made it!

Welcome treat in our hotel room.  Hand made Stitch made out of all white chocolate!

Straight to the pool.

Fresh Hawaiian fruit plate

The beach!

Private Meet 'n Greet with Mickey & Minnie
Kelsey wasn't so thrilled to be left alone with them!

Other characters were out & about throughout the day.
Brooke & Stitch

View from our room
View of the pool.  The volcano had water slides running through it!

U S S Missouri Battleship

Back to the beach!

Grandma & Papa and the kids

Character breakfast

Paddle boarding

Snorkeling in the private lagoon at the resort
Brooke was a quick learner and absolutely loved it!

Infinity hottub
Catchin' a nap poolside.
We had a poolside cabana the first day with a pack 'n play, but improvised the other days!

We made a trip around the island to Seal Life Park to go swim with the dolphins and stingrays.

Seeing the stingrays was something that Drew really wanted to do.  We didn't know that the stingray encounter was a snorkeling thing and luckily Brooke had already mastered it at the hotel.  Drew didn't snorkel, but was content to just ride on my back to be able to touch and swim with the them.

They gave us each a leaf of lettuce to feed the tropical fish that were in the lagoon.    The
fish swarm and tug at the lettuce and gave us a great up close encounter with them.

Kelsey's runway pic.  I think she could get used to this lifestyle.
Dallin & his Shaka!  We think he would have slept on the beach if we had let him.

Sweet Drew.  He was able to do everything that was on his list to do in Hawaii!

The beach at sunset was like having our own private beach.
Brooke found an actual real dolphin tooth in the water this night and we saw 2 dolphins swimming off shore and a whale breaching!

Shave Ice Hut
This was the only way we got them up from the beach every night!  This place closed and if they wanted their shave ice they had to come back up to get it.

Soaking it all up.  Last day at the pool.
We had beautiful weather the entire trip.

Once they discovered the kids play area, they didn't want to leave it.

Drew must have done this water slide 50 times in a row!

All cleaned up and ready to head to the airport.

Aulani Disney Resort & Spa
We had an amazing trip & miss Hawaii already!

Home again

Thank you Make-A-Wish!

I don't know that we can ever properly thank such an incredible organization that made this all possible and all that they did for us to create such wonderful memories together as a family.

  6. Hello! My name is Heather. :) We have recently found out our daughter is eligible for make a wish. We are a family of 6. We are fixing to meet with a volunteer and so far know so very little about the process. She is wanting to do Hawaii (Aulani) & American Girl Doll with the latest edition of wanting my mom to go, lol. I am not sure that she can do all that. But I have a couple of questions & I was hoping you might be able/willing to answer them. :) My email is haerae04@aol.com, if you don't mind. Thanks!
